Procreate 5.4 brings a game-changing update with its redesigned Brush Library system, transforming how you manage and browse brushes. Replacing the older brush sets, the new libraries offer a sleek, intuitive interface for seamless organization and navigation. Brushes are now stored as .brushlibrary files in the iPadOS Files app, enabling effortless browsing, searching, and syncing across devices via iCloud.
With a cleaner layout and smarter search, finding the perfect brush is faster and smoother than ever, streamlining your creative workflow. So let’s dive in.
Step 1: Locate your Brush Library File

Locate Your Brush Library File: Find your .brushlibrary, .brushset, or .brush file in the Files app (e.g., Downloads or iCloud Drive).

Import to Procreate: Tap the file, select Open with > Procreate. Alternatively, in Procreate’s Brushes panel, tap [ ] menu > Import from Files > Select file > Open.

To find your newly imported brush library in Procreate 5.4, open a canvas and tap the Brush icon to access the Brushes panel. Pinch inward with two fingers (or tap the library title and select Back to Libraries) to reveal the full list of Brush Libraries. Your imported .brushlibrary will appear as a new entry alongside the default Procreate and Classic Libraries. Tap it to view its sets, or swipe down to search for specific brushes.

New .brushset or .brush files appear as sets or in an “Imported” folder within the active library—drag to reorganize if needed.

Dive into your creative flow with Procreate 5.4’s new Brush Libraries and enjoy the fun of exploring both your brand-new and classic brushes! With cleaner navigation and a sleek, organized interface, browsing and using your brushes is now more intuitive and enjoyable than ever.
Experiment, create, and have a blast bringing your ideas to life with this streamlined system!
